This morning the whole school enjoyed another fantastic performance by the NZ Playhouse group based on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk!

Daffodil Day Art

Run Ragged

Today our school had sour annual run ragged sponsored run. It was great to see a large number of families joining us. The weather was brilliant. A few tired bodies tonight!

ANZ Ambassador Black Sticks Kayla Whitelock

ANZ Ambassador Kayla Whitelock visited our school today and gave an inspiring speech about her determination and values towards sports. It was great to have her here today to give out certificates and awards to our Ohau Stars hockey team who won Division 2 this week. 5 of these players are in Room 1.

Max N's Recount of Waiopehu College's What Show

The What Show

Room1 and 2 arrived at Waiopehu College. It was the morning of the third of August 2015. We went into the hall and sat right at the top of the bleaches. I however, had to sit at the seats below the top.

Then Rooms 3 and 4 came into the hall. Isaac sat in front of me but he also sat on my foot. It gave me a fright but didn’t really hurt.

Once everyone from the rooms I mentioned were seated, lots of people started talking.

Then another class from a different school arrived. That class had Year 2s. After they got seated another class came. Lots of classes came to the What Show.

When everyone was seated the show began. First a fairy came and told us about the story. Then another fairy came to talk about something. After that one of the fairies picked two people to come on stage. One of the two people that they picked was Kaiawha from our school. The second person was a girl from the front row. The show was Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs. After they picked the two people the evil Queen came on with Blackwing. The Evil Queen doesn’t like Snow White. She asked the mirror on the wall “Who was the prettiest of them all?”

After the mirror replies “Snow White is the prettiest of them all.”

Then the castle’s cleaner came on with some other people like Snow White and her son Danny. The cleaner was very talkative.

When all of them went off the the Evil Queen came back on with Blackwing. The Evil Queen was making a wicked spell. Her plan was to murder Snow White and bring back her heart in a little case. She wanted to murder Snow White because she wanted to be the prettiest in the castle. So Blackwing went to get two people with blue frizzy hair. Their names were Snot Bottom and Stink Whart. The Evil Queen got Snot Bottom and Stink Whart to go and murder Snow White. But they didn’t want to murder Snow White.

Then they all went off the stage so the next people can come on.  Before that Snow White and Prince Charming sang What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction. I think the girl behind me likes One Direction because,when she heard the song she did a quiet scream.

Then they went into the forest. The Queen made the Blackwing into a crow who went into the forest. When the crow came into the forest a wolf who plays the saxophone followed her. Lots of the people down in the front were saying he’s behind you. When the crow noticed the wolf she started to run and scream. Then Snow White came on. The wolf found her as well and she started to run and scream. After that Snot Bottom and Stink Whart came on. They found Snow White. Also they told Snow White that the Queen wanted to murder her and get her heart. When Snow White heard the news she started to run away from Snot Bottom and Stink Whart. They tried to catch her but Prince Charming got there too quick for them. Prince Charming pulled out a sword that looked like it was from Star Wars. He threatened them with the sword but they ran away.

Then some dwarfs came and let Snow White sleep at their house. After Prince Charming captured the evil Queen and Blackwing.

Lastly they all sang a song called I’m A Believer.           

Today's Reusing Lesson

Today Room 1 were looking at the different ways we can reuse our rubbish. This group decided they could use this as a watering can, scoop, and other exciting things.

Today we had a small visitor in class for a little while.  Jorja, Gavin, Fiona and Katya identied it as a Phasmatodea - the name comes from the Greek word 'phasm', meaning phantom.

Here is our class of 2015 enjoying the new furniture that the school PTA has helped fund for us.  We are so thankful for their support.
